Cleaning the Friction Pad and Paper Feed Roller

If the friction pad or paper feed roller is dirty, a multi-feed or jam might occur. In this case, clean the friction pad and paper feed roller as follows:

  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before you move the machine. While moving the machine, you should take care that the power cord will not be damaged under the machine.

  • Do not use chemical cleaning fluids or organic solvents such as thinner or benzine.

1Turn off the power.

2Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Remove all the cables from the machine.

3Lift tray 1 and pull it slightly toward you. Then, using both hands, pull the tray fully out.

Place the tray on a flat surface. If there is paper in the tray, remove it.

4Wipe the friction pad with a damp cloth.

5Wipe the rubber part of the roller with a soft damp cloth. After that, wipe it with a dry cloth to remove the moisture.

6Push the metal plate down until it clicks into place to lock it.

7Reload the removed paper into the tray, and then push the tray carefully into the machine until it clicks into place.

8Insert the plug of the power cord into the wall socket securely. Connect all the interface cables that were removed.

9Turn on the power.

  • If jams or multi-sheet feeds occur after cleaning the friction pad, contact your sales or service representative.

  • If the optional tray 2 is installed, clean its friction pad and paper feed roller in the same way as you did for tray 1.
